Richard Petty Motorsports Kentucky Qualifying Report
Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) qualified Friday afternoon for Saturday night's 400-mile race at the Kentucky Speedway. A hot, humid day, the track was very slick at the start of the session, but a fast-approching rain storm brought clouds and cooler temperatures. The track changed and forced many drivers to qualifying later throughout the knockout rounds.
Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Eckrich Ford team made it the second round of qaulifying and will start 22nd.
Marcos Ambrose qualified 27th after taking five laps in the first session.
Brad Keselowski won the pole.
Comments from Aric Almirola after Qualifying at Kentucky:
"We have working on getting more speed out of the car. Like Marcos, we've been working all day too on that, to get consistent speed. It's not for a lack of effort by our Eckrich guys. We just have to keep working on it for tomorrow."
Comments from Marcos Ambrose after Qualifying at Kentucky:
"The car was free getting in and then tight in the center, but we have been working on the car all day. We really showed some speed in the second practice and were near the top of the speed charts, but need to be more consistent. The Black and Decker car looks good, we know it can get the job done. We just need to work hard tomorrow night."
