Federated Auto Parts 400 Qualifying Report

Almirola advanced to the second round of qualifying after posting the 15th best time in the first round. Almirola reported a lack of grip in his second round run. Richard Petty Motorsports has historically run well at the Richmond night race and the team is looking forward to Saturday night under the lights.

23: Aric Almirola, No. 43 Smithfield Ford
Comments from Almirola after qualifying at Richmond:
“We didn’t have the overall grip we needed to get into the final round of qualifying. The first round, we had a good run. But, the car lost grip in the second round. I wish we had another attempt at it because we were faster in the first round. We still have something to work from tomorrow night. I like this track and love the night race. This is Smithfield’s backyard, so we want to do well for them and try to get into The Chase.”
