Richard Petty Motorsports Tales of the Turtles 400 Qualifying Report
Richard Petty Motorsports and driver Aric Almirola used an hour and 25 minute practice session early Friday to work on race and qualifying setups. Almirola wheeled the No. 43 Smithfield Ford to the 20th spot in Round One and advanced to Round Two. A little too tight during Round Two gave the team the 21st starting spot for Sunday’s Tale of the Turtles 400.

21: Aric Almirola, No. 43 Smithfield Ford
Comments from Almirola after qualifying at Chicagoland:
“We were just a little loose on the first run but put up a fast enough lap to advance to Round Two. We adjusted the car a little to help, but as the track cooled, we were too tight in Round Two. I felt good about our Smithfield Ford in race trim, so we’ll tweak it tomorrow in practice and get ready for the race on Sunday.”
